A Heartbroken First Lady

I wish you could have seen your Nancy,
And the love that shown in her eyes.
As she stood there so brave 
and trying Not to cry.


I know her heart was breaking because
You were no longer at her side
And all our hearts were aching
Watching the tears she tried to hide
 

You would have been so proud of her
She was loving and so brave.
As she and your children stood
Sadly at your grave.

 

To us you were a president and
A star of the silver screen.
But to your sweet Nancy sir,
You were her everything.
