A Christmas Miracle

Bill was speechless, "I just don't know what to say,"  Bill told Susie.  "But how come you never told me?"  Susie said, "I don't  really know, I guess I just didn't want to believe it myself, so I just tried to forget it.  I'm sorry."  Bill said, "No, Susie, it's okay, I understand.  It is an awesome story and not everyone would believe it."  Later that night Sarah started moaning and tossing around in her bed.  Susie got up to check on her.  She cried out, "Not again Lord!  Please, not again."  Bill, who had stayed with Susie and Sarah that night jumped up and ran over to Sarah's bed.  "What's wrong Susie?"  "She's hot, Bill, very hot."  Just then the nurse heard Susie scream and ran to the room, "What is it Susie?  I heard you scream."  "She's burning up,"  Susie cried.  "The fever is back."  The nurse took her temperature, it was 105.2.  "I'll get her started on meds and then get Dr. Matthews."  Susie stood gazing down at her daughter and said, "Bill, I am so scared."  "I know,"  Bill said, "I know!"

Bill put his hand on Sara's hot little head and started praying, "Dear Lord," He said, "I know that only you know what's in my heart, so I'm asking you to please heal Sarah, Lord I know you have a reason for every thing you do, and that we, as faithful servants, should not question your reason, so Lord if it be your will to take her home with you, then help us to understand and help us to let go, Lord.  We don't want Sarah to suffer, but as humans Lord, we want our daughter.  We want more time with her, but not if she has to suffer pain to stay here.  We leave her in your hands, Lord.  Your will be done. Amen."

Then he bent down and kissed Sarah's little forehead and whispered in her ear, "I love you baby girl, Daddy loves you."  Then he took Susie's sobbing body in his arms and held her, saying, "It's up to Him now, Susie. It's up to Him."

Susie looked at Bill and said, "I don't know if I can do this, Bill."  He answered, "We have to." Then Bill, who had always been the strong one, broke down and cried.  Susie had never seen him cry.  They both took their daughter's hand and held it and told her they loved her.  Susie said, "From the minute we knew that I was pregnant with you, we loved you, and we will love you forever and always."
